Nikon have just released an L firmware update which provides corrections for lens barrel and pincushion distortions for most recent and current DSLRs.

Do the corrections show up in raw and jpeg? I couldn't find an answer from a few casual searches. Does this only work when the correction is turned on via menus or does it always auto correct as it were? Is this any different from the lens corrections in Lightroom? Des this firmware make Lightroom corrections unnecessary? Sorry lots of questions.
