Being an ex canon shooter who used to use Yongnuo triggers & flash now I have a Nikon D5300 and looking for a budget on camera flash option, just wondering what might be ideal! Possible I might want to take it off camera in due course too...

Hi

You have a choice of shanny sn600sn, Yongnuo and godox.

I use the shanny with yn622n and tx triggers and am happy with it.

Compact and light Godox. TT350
"Normal sized" inexpensive. TT685
Li—ion battery for short refresh times. Godox W860II
Powerhouse, the spedlight on steroids, barebulb design. Godox AD360II
A battery powered studio strobe? Godox AD600(II)
Either of the above except AD600 can be used as on camera master/trigger as well as slave but the Godox X1T is better sized and a better solution as trigger for that purpose.

Godox all the way for me. Bought 2 TT685's liked them that much I bought an AD600 then added an AD200 all fire seamlessly off the X1T. Can't fault them at all, fraction of the price of Nikon or Canon gear.

Two TT685 here as well but only got an AD360(version I) besides them. :) for now

I can't believe how well they perform, the AD600 is a quality bit of kit. That's the thing I like about Godox - the way it all works with the X1T.

So far I am happy with SB-700, but it's not exactly the cheapest one... While I don't feel it was a mistake, I should have checked prices of wireless Nikon triggers first.... :D :D :D :D They were warning me! ;)

Yes even the older version of the AD360 works with X1T and the new XTR16 reciever (looks just like the old FTR16 reciever) with HSS thought offcource sans TTL.

No need to get that feeling. While the original speedlights costs a small fortune they ae also nice, still use my SB26 from rhe "stoneage" on my film nikons.

You don't have to use the Nikon ones, if you just want to trigger the flash you could get yn603n but if you want to be able to adjust the flash settings you would need the yn622n and tx.

Not sure if your camera body off the Nikon CLS system to trigger the sb 700 from your camera flash.

I can fire it remotely, but my body doesn't have commander mode - small inconvenience as pop up flash is still visible in my photos Thanks for hints about third party trigger, will have a look at it.

There are plenty of triggers that will control your flash. Cheap if you can live with manual only and a little more costly if you want more control.

+1 for godox - great system. I've changed to this from yongnuo over the last year.
