The rewind fork fell into the body and the camera back is locked. In other words, the rewind fork came off the film rewind crank and fell into the camera's body... I have no idea how to get the camera back opened. I tried in vain to reach the inside mechanism using a paper clip, but had no luck. I don't know how the mechanism works really.

There is no film inside the camera body.

Can anyone help? How could I open the camera back?

I attached a picture so you can see what my problem is:

Thank you for your help.

I seem to remember that the hinge side is located via a long "pin" (the length of the hinge).
Is it possible to push this through with an opened paperclip or similar and release the back that way?
Thanks, I am trying this way but no luck so far.

Possibly/probably worth this thread being moved to the Film section. I've taken the liberty of reporting the thread (the easiest way to bring it to the mods' attention) with this in mind.

Hope you get it sorted, even if it's a job for the professional repairers rather than a home remedy.

That was quick, Yv!

Thanks a lot for reporting and moving the thread!

Hopefully I'll get this sorted soon.

Philip, there was clearly a problem with the camera for that to happen. I would suggest sending to a repairer to get it properly sorted? I have just had a Nikon FE with a faulty shutter repaired by Miles Whitehead, he is is very reliable and knows these old Nikon's.

When this happens in the shop we use a little clay crafting tool like the thing below 3 & 4 in from the right, just hook the catch upwards to pop it open, then simply screw the rewind back together (assuming its just unscrewed and not snapped of course). If you have something similar try that.
