Nikon F5 + Film rewind question

Does anyone know if the auto rewind function leaves the film leader outside the metal container?

Does the auto rewind start when you reach the end of the roll? or do you have to press the buttons? I might stick with manual rewind to be safe, as its a pain to open film canisters when the film header gets stuck inside it.

Does not rewind automatically, on mine there was a slither of film left out, but not sure if all the same.

Does not on mine, has to be manually selected, as for film leader, I use a film retriever

So if I use the electronic rewind, the header is stuck in the canister?
