Hi Nikon users,

When I bought my D300 body last January I registered it immediately with Nikon to take advantage of the free second year warranty. I heard no more, but was advised by Nikon that all was well but the underwriters (Homeserve) had not yet sent out the letters of confirmation.

Mine arrived recently (more than 9 months after registering it) and it simply offered me a second year warranty on payment of nearly 80 pounds for an extended warranty - no mention at all of the "free second year". I spoke to Homeserve and, to be fair, they called Nikon straight away and confirmed that I was entitled to the free second year warranty. I have asked them to confirm this in writing - let's hope they do.

So I advise anyone in the UK who registered for the free extra warranty to check with Nikon and/or Homeserve that they actually have it. It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Bought my D700 in April this year and got the letter from Homeserve yesterday - Thanks for that johngie - will chase it up on Monday.

Regards

I bought my D700 two weeks ago, registered a couple of days later and the confirmation letter came through about 5-7 days later. Homeserve dont seem to be too consistent in their response

When my D90 came back from a warranty repair at Nikon about 3 weeks ago.

The enclosed letter said the work was done under the 2 year warranty.

May I ask what the problem was with your D90?

Cheers....Kev.

My warranty from Homserve arrived about a year after I bought my D300, unfortunately it recorded the camera as a D200 with the same serial number, but bought 2 months before the D300 was launched. I called Homserve and they said they'd get it sorted and send out new documentation.

I'm still waiting and that's been nearly a year.......

I registered my D300 last year with the free 2 year warrenty,
last week i got a letter saying my warrenty is about to expire.

I guess its abit to late to do anything about it now :(

I bought my D90 in January this year and registered for the 2 year warranty within a couple of days.

A couple of weeks ago I received a letter from Homeserve as well asking for about £80 to extend my warranty for another year. I rang Homeserve and they put me straight through to Nikon. Nikon checked on their system to see if the camera was registered, which of course it was, and said they would get Homeserve to send me my new documents out.

Well, I've just received my new documents - they sent them to me 3 times, in 3 separate envelopes  - I thought we were supposed to be saving paper.

Alison :)
