Hello all

just done a photoshoot at a freinds house and i decided to learn how to use my flash wirelessly so i popped the SB-600 on a tripod and then pressed the zoom and the - button in and turned the wireless setting on!

i then went into my camera menu and selected menu E2 and selected commander mode and set it to 1 A and left all others TTL and at 0

came to take my shots and they was coming out brilliant after about 35 shots the pop up flash stopped workign but would work only on certain shots but very dim and then this caused the flash gun to not fire and so i checked the batterys and they were all fine and then when i tok a shot in TTL on the camera the pop up flash was firing

but now i just cannot get it to fire my flash gun

PLEASE any help???

thanks

Did anything change after the 35 shots? Did you move position so that you were in front of the SB-600 or anything like that? Try setting the pop-up to commander and TTL (not --) and the SB-600 to TTL and see if it fires it... is the SB-600 firing ok when on the hotshoe? There's a myriad of options you could check here, so probably best to go back to basics and then one step at a time, double checking settings as you go...

Yeah i did move position but then went back to the same position to start shooting again

I have recharged both batteries over night and when i shoot both in TTL now on commander mode the pop up flash is now firing but the SB-600 is not detecting the flash and not firing

The sb-600 fires on the hot shoe perfectly

I have reset the camera settings and the flash settings i just cannot think

is there a specific way to syncronise the flashgun?? i am still new to this he he but i have a shoot on friday and if i can get this working again then it will make the job so much easyer :D

thanks for your help

You have probably already done this but did you try restarting the wireless setting? I remember when a friend of mine had first gotten an SB-600 after a while it stopped syncing wirelessly, after some head scratching we realised that the slave connection had been severed when the flash went in to standby, I think this happens when the flash hasn't been used for a few minutes.

make sure that the auto powersave is switched off,if it isnt the flashgun will go to sleep and will not fire.

hi all
i took the camera & flash to a shop in Leeds Dale photographics and the chap there was a Nikon pro and he said my pop up flash was not right and so i need to now get my insurance phoned up as we tried it on his flashgun and it would not fire his flash either

great eh

Blinking technology its great when it works but when it messes up it really messes up!

Sorry to hear that - you'd obviously have thought that it was something you'd done probably, as it was the first time you tried it off camera and managed to get a few dozen shots off with it working ok.

yeah i thought that too but we tried using my camera to trigger the chaps SB-900 and the pop up flash fires occasionally but its not triggering off the flash !!

dead weird oh well will have to see what the insurance guys say

I just had another play and set the SB-600 on wireless and then set it to channel 3 and then in the camera i then set it to TTL and then AA and then when the flash fired my SB600 decided to make these weird noises like a fire alarm and then kept flashing for 3 seconds and then stopped!! hmm

but when i shooting my pop up flash is just not firing all the time so there definatly a problem with it

if i use it in TTL *** it works fine along with using the SB-600 on the camera it works fine!! so i just dont know
