Hi all, new to the forum so I thought I'd chuck out a question for the more experienced than me.

I've recently got back in to photography after a long lay off (Last camera was an Olympus OM2n). Current camera is a Nikon D750 (Had it about 6 months). Mostly interested in shooting landscapes, street, architecture, macro and auto. When I bought the D750 I was looking at the D850 but they were hovering around £1700-1800 used at the time, which was more than I wanted to spend. Now they're under £1400 grey import and the Z6iii is around the same. Logically, the 6iii is probably the better long term choice, but I would be interested to hear the views of people that have had a similar dilemma. I do have 4 D lenses (3 zooms and a prime).

Thanks in advance.

Hi David, Out of curiosity which lenses do you have? Reason is you might have to upgrade/change whichever way you go. The 46MP of the D850 requires a better standard of lens, but if you do have the right lenses the transition should be smooth and I would say go for the D850. But I think you might develop an itch for the Z6iii, which is way ahead of the D750 in features.......the D850 tech is 8+ years old now....

Hi ww645, I have a 50mm f1.4, 16-35mm f4, 24-120mm f4 and 70-200mm f4. All the zooms are VR.

I"ve got an 850 and it is really big- almost as big as a D series pro camera. If this is an issue and you don't have any AF or AF-D lenses then the Z6 might be better.

Unless you crop in, a 24 megapixel camera can out-resolve anyone looking at a picture at a comfortable viewing distance. The 850 has more detail and dynamic range than a Z6, but normal people won't see it in the pictures.

For landscapes, either camera would be fine. As would your 750 (but you miss out on a touch screen).

3 out 4 of those I have, my 70-200 is 2.8, and as they are 'G' (presume the 50mm is a G) they are good to go on a D850. With the adapter they should work well with the Z6iii too.
