awesome, dont suppose you guys live close and have one do you in dire need I just need to charge my battery for friday :( x

someones lending me a d7000 charger you guys sure this will work :) X

I used the same batteries in my D800 and D7000, so yes, they are the same.

Good luck!

Bit of a rant....
There is this guy selling his almost new d800 for 1450 on here! When I saw the price I almost fell down the stairs....
Why people sell them for this kind of money!!! This only makes it worse for others that have them already...this camera is great bit of kit and worth more than that!! If new one is around 1900 than one month old should not be sold by much less than that unless with huge number of shutter actuations

Maybe person selling it can afford and loose so much money....

Someone should fetch it now as well !!

End of rant...

A dealer can sell a mint one with 1200 shots for £1550 with 6 months guarantee.

No offence son but I have to say I think that's a bit out of order. What has it got to do with you what price somebody wants to sell something for?

Also bear in mind selling used he will have to compete with the Grey Market pricing around £1700 for a brand new body.

i dont see the problem, he will sell it at a daft price then it will be off the market. I noticed Aperture flogging a similar second hand one the other day for 1700 i think, so its not that far off for a quick sale.

The price has plummeted tbh so not too surprised to see them this cheap.

That means that he bought one for 1200...
I was one of the people that bought one for 2599.... So camera lost on its value around %40 in few months....outrageous... Don't remember a camera that would loose some much on value...even d700 were for around 1600 few months after launch...

Out of order?
Why so?
He can sell it for £2 if he can afford to loose so much. His money.
Am saying it affects all other users.
I would buy one that is not grey product even if I would have to pay more.

I am surprised that it went so low....hence my rant and second hand prices....

No offence intended again but it was probably a bit silly to jump in at that price. They were always going to drop considerably, to be honest I expect them to drop a bit more over the next few months.

I wasn't expecting them to go lower that 2000 in first month's...I knew that I will get a hit.

As I said again.
Brilliant camera and worth 2000 for sure.
Nevertheless someone should grab a bargain.

It won't change the fact I am bit annoyed that it lost so much on value.

Might be desperate for some cash, could just be wealthy or numerous other reasons

This reminds me when I sold my last house, had one lined up to buy so priced the current one to sell. One estate agent practically refused to handle it because it might lower other similar properties. Fortunately they were not all that daft and sold first day it was on the market, easy work for the more sensible agent

Got what I wanted and that is the whole principle of selling something.

Why rant? You bought your D800 for a price you were presumably happy with ar the time. And now the same camera can be had for much less, but second hand. It happens.

I do think the price drop by Nikon and second hand sales is getting a bit mad. I also bought my d800 for around the £2400 mark 5 months ago and did not expect it to lose value so quickly. It was only 3-4 months ago d700's were selling for £1200 and people are still asking 950-1000for a good copy.

The 5dmk3 hasn't dropped as much ,just people are risking buying imports so they seem cheaper. Some thing nikon users can't do as easily as Nikon won't touch them from what I read even if you pay.

But at the end of the day it's his choice to sell cheaper ,but this is what some d700 users did so all sales after dropped.

Everyone's going on about a bit of a drop was expected ,yes but not nearly 40% in less than 6 months though.

It's only a drop in price if you intend to sell it. If you're happy with the camera, don't lose any sleep over it.
I took a hit of £29k on a car that I only put 12,500 miles on. My fault. I took it on the chin.

When we buy kit as soon as it is released, we know that in a few months time, you will buy the same for less. That also means secondhand values will drop also.

Just enjoy what you have.

Kev.

Ah, the E on mine keeps it's value up a little at least :) not that I ever plan to sell it.

Are you planning to sell yours? If not, who cares?

well you get them brand new for 2k now which is only £300 less than the day 1 price i paid. So not too bad, there was just the "greed blip" on release from nikon which scewed the price a bit. Ive had nearly a years worth of use out of mine now and have run it ragged tbh so im not complaining at all.

Its technology, its always going to plummet.
