Just in case this helps anyone. Was on the 4th August I passed through but two were available.

Cheers,

James.

But that price is only for people going away from UK?

Not sure what flights leave from there , but if you find a local flight you could book that . I remember them doing this on a gadget show challenge to buy cheap electronics .

Don't you then have to get on the flight??? What if the return flight is two days later?

I will be travelling in few days from T5. can you please tell me which store/retailer was selling it...

very tempted to get one..

I think DIxons Tax Free is the only electronics retailer there..... I certainly remember seeing the nikon 24-70 f2.8 for £1k there when I was last at Heathrow. I bought my d5100 for about £100 less than the cheapest available online (from UK retailers - it was a similar price to the grey import sites).

But you take your chances.... Sometimes they are more than amazon, other times they don't have what you want. Ring them up for a stock check and price (they don't have online prices, and you can reserve over the phone).

A really good price for the D800, surprising it is at that price as I've found a lot of places at duty free these days are more expensive than online!

Might be worth buying some cheapo ticket, buy the camera, go pick up the camera and then not bother getting on the plane lol.

The old "I have a fear of flying and i cant possibly face flying today" :-) I have seen this for £2399 in the airport but not £1995, its normally a bit cheaper in the airport but not generally that much cheaper!
BA flights out of terminal 5 don't tend to be too cheap though.....
I can buy them up and sell them on for £100 for the trouble :-) lol!

You don't have to board the plane. A friend of mine bought 2 Chanel bags from heathrow duty free store and left shortly after.

They can't really force you to board a plane against your will.

£50 and we might have a deal :p Saying that I want the D800E not the D800! I do know someone who works in Terminal 4 so could ask them to buy it but then again I'd rather not publicise how much my camera would cost me!

Went with the wife once into a Chanel shop, **** me those bags are expensive. Like £2.5k, I was like does it come with a credit card and preloaded with cash or something!

2.5k for a Chanel handbag? Does it come with a Nikon D800? ;-)

I didn't get a chance to look today but will certainly look as soon as i can and report back on the price!

Saw the D800 in Heathrow T5 this Wednesday for £1999. Didn't ask how many was in stock because I didn't intend to buy.
