I had a go of a D80 earlier today and loved it, took some great photos and it felt really comfortable and intuitive. And I didn't mind that it was a tiny bit older than the current range at all.

I was originally wanting a D90, but I don't see much that it has over the older D80 that I'd miss. And I'd save a good bit of money by getting a D80, which could be used for a nice lens, or beer.

Could someone please highlight the key differences between these models before I make my decision? Thanks :)

Same basic question here, essentially if you are happy to shoot at under iso 400 then the D80 will do the job, if you see yourself wanting to shoot in low/poor light (i.e in Glasgow ) then a D90 would probably be a better option...

The main difference is the sensor. The D90 shares the D300's sensor, where as the D80 has a much older design.
Its still good up to about ISO 800, but starts to suffer from there. The D90 is good upto ISO 1600 before you need to consider Noise reduction..
Obviuosly the D90 has HD video and Live view which the D80 doesnt, and the D90 has a much better and bigger rear LCD screen.

Ah right, cleared up now. I definitely want a D90, was just making sure I couldn't save myself some cash.

That other thread is very useful, cheers. Why didn't I just use the search function... :bonk:
