Morning all, I am looking for some advice as I've been out of the loop for a while with photography.

I own a Nikon D80, Nikon 18-70 1:3.5-4.5G, Sigma 30mm 1:1.4D and a Nikon 70-300mm 1:4-5.6G.

I am going to be getting back into it this year but want an upgrade on my D80. I want to spend around £300ish to £400 and have been looking on MPB, but cant make my mind up what's the best way to go.
I mainly shoot motorsport, Night photography and landscapes. My 70-300 lens requires the focusing motor in the body so I have been looking at the D600, a good condition one is £349.

But I thought it best to ask those with more experience as I've been away from the hobby for so long.

Thanks in advance.

You'll need a new 'standard' zoom if you do for a D600 as your 18-70mm will only cover APS-C. I suggest a D7100 or D7200 as they won't need you to change any of your lenses.

The D80 is rather long in the tooth these days and no longer supported by Nikon should it need repairs but D600 (or D610 for that matter) isn't great for motorsport as the focussing is both slow and rather hit and miss with moving subjects, The D750 would be a better choice if you want full frame.

Snapsh0t makes a valid point and I would agree with him with the D7200 or maybe the D7500.

If you could possibly stretch your budget a bit or save up a while longer you could try for a Used Nikon D500 , lots of people use these for Sports and wildlife as the fast shutter speeds are excellent , it would certainly suit motorsports - 2 of these sold on here recently one of which only had 22k clicks on the shutter , I Think it sold for around £600 however there are some fantastic bargains to be had at the minute and I`m certain you could aquire one for much less than this ..

Others might say that you`d be better off with a Full Frame camera for Night photography and Landscapes and that may well be true however I have used a D500 for all sorts including Portraits, Landscape, wildlife etc etc and the Images produced are fantastic quality . The Nikon D500 is a DX camera (crop sensor) So you`d have a bit of extra reach ..

The only thing I`m not 100 percent certain on is the compatability of your lenses with the D500 - it may be worth while taking a look at ...

Good luck on whatever decision you go for

D7500 should be a decent camera in theory. Low light, not certain as I've not tried one. I used to have a D7000 which I found didn't cope very well with noise control. Still got thousands of unprocessed images taken with it that I just lost interest with

I'm an advocate for full frame so the D610/D750/D3/D700 would be on my radar if going down that road. You'd find the 18-70 won't be much use on those, but that's easily replaced along the way and there's some nice Nikkor glass to be had for reasonable money (especially now with people hopping over to mirrorless).
