Nikon D80 Fast Lens advice

Hi, recently purchased a Nikon D80 with 18-135mm lens. Decent enough lens but not really ideal for low light gig photography. Was thinking of maybe picking up a nifty fifty 1.8 or even a 1.4. Is there such a big difference? Or can anyone suggest another lens that will do the job for around £200.
