Hi, I have a chance to buy a Nikon D80 body at a good price. My query is if this will be any good for Bird in flight shots? Any guidence will be good, particularly from anyone who uses one before I hand over my hard earned cash.

Hello,
I have had a 2nd hand D80 for about 4-5 months now and I am very pleased with it. I bought myself a Nikon 55-200mm for everyday shooting and I may have some pictures below that you may be interested in. The lens performs pretty well in low light as seen in the 3rd shot below and the sharpness of it is brilliant for the price. The camera and lens seem to auto focus quickly and I would recommend it due to the quality and for the price D80's are now. Im not a pro but I took these whilst I was on holiday as raw .NEF's in manual mode (I think?) which I have pp'd in paint shop pro and I think they are very good for what the camera set up cost :)

I've had a brief go with a D80 photographing action, and it was absolutely fine, the autofocus seemed as quick/accurate/good at tracking as my D90 does. As always it'll depend largely on what lens you stick in front of it! If I got offered a D80 for little cash I'd probably still snap it up...

Seems to be a little speck of dust or something on your sensor Jack :)
