Just used my D750 with Nikon latest 80-400 VR at my first Airshow yesterday. Having had a D4s I'm not sure that the autofocus behaved very well. It hunted Agee times and struggled to find focus?
Anyone else had any experience of the D750 for activities like planes. Think I got rid of the best camera out[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I don't have any trouble shooting jets with mine... This isn't from an airshow but it's still doing 400mph. :)

It also works well for birds in flight too.

Not shot planes but no problem with Motorsport or BIF. Could it just be a case of getting used to the camera? Other than burst rate I don't see why the D750 would be worse as it uses pretty much the same AF system doesn't it, arguably better as it's a newer version of the multicam 3500fx.

That's a fantastic shot I'd be chuffed with that! After recent Airshow accidents the planes are standing even further off shore and I reckon yesterday they must have been at least 800 yds away and no where near filling the frame. That increases the effect of haze I know. Also cropping doesn't help the image. I was shooting at 1/1600 for jets and around 1/320 for props so camera shake shouldn't be a problem. The camera is new and maybe I'm not used to it.
Another show in a month so a second chance to get things right.
The lens is new too so I'm not sure what it's quality is like at 400mm.
Thanks for your comments

I know with some lenses VR can cause 'issues' when using fast shutter speeds. I tend to turn mine off 'just in case'.
