Nikon d700 to something lighter

Currently I have a d700 with a battery grip I hardly use it as it so heavy, I could remove the grip but the top dial is faulty, so I use the one on the grip.
I'm thinking of selling the d700 as is and getting a used d600, it would be cheaper to do this than get the d700 fixed/serviced

Anybody done the same? Will I be disappointed? Should I just fix the d700 and remove the grip?
I'm going to take it to work and pop in the local shop to see for myself the difference

Sounds like you’ve already made a sensible decision.

A lot of folk would see a system change to Mirrorless as a good alternative.

I guess budget will probably be a factor.

If budget allows a D750 would be perfect, anything from £600-£700 used which is a snip!
