Hi all,

I have had two after market battery grips, a Meike for my D7000 which was problem free, then just recently a Meike battery grip for the D700.

I overtightened the grip and it got stuck on the D700. Luckily I managed to get it off despite something breaking in the cog / tightening screw.

I want to know from people who have the MB-D10 if they have had this problem or if the build quality on the on the Nikon grip is significantly better in terms of this part of the grip.

thanks

That'll cause a problem with any grip

I make sure mine is tight but ever over tight.

I thought I'd just tightened it, not over tightened it!

The wheel / cogs are cheap plastic and one broke

Is the nikon grip any different in terms of this part of the grip???

Obviously next time I'll be much more careful, didn't realise this was going to be a problem, the D7000 meike grip never failed in over 12 months and used to tighten that up quite tight

I had a Meike grip on a D90 and it seemed like unless I tightened the grip up loads it felt loose. So I kept tightening it until the gears stripped. I basically had to cut the grip.

So with the D700 I bought a genuine MB-D10 grip, which is far better and I never had any issues, it doesn't need a lot of tightening to feel secure.

Never tried a meike grip on my D300 but the mb-d10 on my d300 feels good and it stays tight unless i over do it which might cause a problem .......

As above, never had any problems over the past three years or so with my MB-D10 on my D700. It feels as solidly built as the rest of the camera.

Had meike grips on all my 300/700s, never had a problem.
