Hi All,
Not new to the forum but kinda new to posting.

I have a D610 and have been loving it for my Motorsport photography.

I was out the other week trying to get some long exposure images with a friend. She has never done long exposure so I took her out to show her what its all about.

I found that any shutter speed longer than 8 seconds would just come out completely black regardless of other settings. ISO 100 F22 or even ISO4000 and F2.8. I even tried this for 30 seconds in a lit room and the same result. I tried to turn on long exposure noise correction/assistance (cant remember the exact setting), this just produced a blank pink image. Really scratching my head with this.

HELP PLEASE!!!

I am away next week in the Scottish highlands and hoping to get some ND photos.

Thank you

Hard to diagnose remotely, but let's try it one step at a time.

You'll need to do this in pretty gloomy room, or at night, because getting exposures longer than 1 second - even at f/22 and ISO 100 - requires there to be not very much light at all. Anyway, set up the camera in manual exposure mode, set the shutter time to 1 second and the aperture and ISO to whatever you need to get a properly exposed picture, and take the shot. Then increase the shutter time to 2 seconds, reduce the aperture or the ISO by 1 stop, and take the same shot. Repeat for 4 seconds, 8 seconds, 15 seconds, 30 seconds. What happens? Please post your results.

Odd one that, I would suggest a camera reset and see if that sorts it.

What strength ND filter are you using? It should be a case of metering an unfiltered image then adjust the shutter speed for the strength of the filter used ie for a 10 stop filter at 1/100 for unfiltered would be 10 seconds.
