Hello All,

After messing around with phone & a compact camera, I've decided to take a plunge into the world of photography and purchase my first DSLR. After countless hours of thinking what to purchase and asking around I've decided on the Nikon D5500. A friend has the D3300 and while its a good camera, I wanted that extra bit and features such as Wifi are important to me.

I was if anyone has the Nikon D5500, could you please provide your insight into the camera and possibly give mini reviews and any helpful tips.

I've had 3 of these. Lovely little camera that has a lot of neat features. Nice deep grip. Weighs nothing. Put a 50 1.8 on it and you have a great little lightweight setup. The image quality from the 24mp sensor is excellent.

Touch screen is very nice too (pinch and zoom to review photos/focus is so nice). The articulating screen is also great for landscape shooting.

The shutter sound is a bit annoying though.
I think you'll love this camera.

After some in depth scrutiny, I've decided on the Nikon D5500 all ! I appreciate the help/ advice thats been provided here although it'll have to wait a while, as I've been made redundant so I don't want to shell out as I'm attempting to survive/ look for another job.
