Nikon D5

Seriously impressive spec, especially the AF system and continuous shooting of 12 fps with up to 200 frames at 14 bit RAW

I will have to just lust after one for now. $6500......

Where did you see that price? I must have missed it...

I'm expecting it to be about £5250 at launch.

3.28 million hi iso? Wonder how grainy that is?

As awesome as it seems, the D5 isn't for me.
I'm not a wildlife or sports shooter.
I don't need the speed, the buffer etc.
Phew, that's a relief !

It seems to "iso race" has now overtaken the "megapixel race" and before long iso will need to be expressed in scientific "power of 10" notation - give it enough time and we will no longer need light at all as cameras will work in complete darkness :D
AND without having to change settings, or indeed press the shutter button.

Woman on the news this eve had a `chip` implanted to restore sight.

Won't be long before we'll all be able to externally store our memories & won't need any sort of cameras at all.

I saw the article about the "bionic" eye! Given time I expect the resolution will overtake ordinary eyes and people will pay to have super high res eyes installed instead :wideyed:

The technological advancements are fascinating, but my wallet is so glad I don't shoot wildlife or sports. Awesome spec for those particular pursuits.

Interesting to note the move to QXD cards too, surprised that's taken so long.

I wonder if the brain would cope so well with the enhanced definition...
I expect they'd get tired sooner processing that lot.

Being the "flagship" for Nikon means that some (eventually all) of these advancements will trickle their way down to mere mortals like me.
Love the idea of focus points covering the entire frame.

Totally agree Gary, like my 750 I use now. The top of the range may not be 4 times the camera that the cost differential indicates between the two. But for a pro that needs the very best available, it's worth the outlay.

Press & Photojournalist will like it as well :)

Absolute dream for them, yes.

To be honest, it would be a dream for most, for the speed and focus, and ISO etc.
A lot of folk will want one, but few will need one.

Their was a time, but alas theses days it would be want, and couldn't afford one :( :)

Focus points dont cover the entire frame !

Would love this camera, the AF system in particular. But alas unless my 6 numbers ever come up on a Saturday it won't be something I'll ever be able to afford. Still, nice to see what will filter down to the lower cameras in the next couple of years. If I could put that AF system into my D750 I think I'd have the perfect camera.

Whilst the AF spread is not hugely wider than the D810 it is a bit, and the D810 is a bit wider than my D750 and I'd find that very useful shooting runners in portrait.

Youd say the same thing about the D6 when you get the D5s guts.

Obviously XQD
