Nikon D4s - it just works!

I had a boat test to do yesterday. Borrowed a D4s and a couple of lenses, it just works. Doing the same shots in the same conditions (actually much better conditions) with the XT2 and I couldn't get a thing right. The D4s I just picked it up, stuck a lens on the front and immediately everything felt right, yes it is that familiarity thing, but I didn't think it would make so much difference.

Now, do I take all the Fuji kit back for the shop to sell on commission for me, or stick it on here - as brand new as doesn't matter (less than 1000 shots) and going to take a big hit on it for sure......my state of mind after everything is to just chuck it at the shop and take whatever they give me at the end of it all.

Advice very gratefully received. I am as sick as a dog over the whole situation.
 
I have a D4 and feel the same way but its more than I need. Couldn't give it away though due to high shutter count so I will keep it. Beast of a camers, it made the d800 I used to own seem like junk with a high res sensor trick up its sleeve and not much else.

If your still after something smaller, test out the Sony A9 [emoji6]

I understand where you are coming from. The XT2 is a hugely competent camera (and it looks great too), but like you, I just found using the D810 more intuitive. I'm sure that with perseverance the XT2 would become the same, but sometimes life is too short. Lets face it, all modern cameras are capable of producing outstanding results, the limiting factor is almost always us!

Nope. I am sticking with Nikon and not changing - the D4s will see me out if I get a decent one. I might be able to buy the one I'm borrowing.

What to do with the Fuji stuff though, that is the thing. The shop seems a simple solution.

Perhaps find out what the shop will offer against the D4s? Or try MPB? Depending on how quickly you wish to move, maybe advertise it on here at a smidge over the trade ... choices, choices :)
 
Well you may as well try it on here first, it's not going to cost you anything.. if it doesn't sell quick enough then the shop option.

And I also agree, I have an X-T2 love it for what I purchased it for ie something small for travel/holidays. I'd love to use it as a main camera but I have a D850 and it just can't compete when weight/size is not a factor.

Before you go to the shop, get an online quote from MPB. It's not difficult and they will also collect if you decide to sell to them. The MPB quote will give you a minimum price that you should get from the shop.

To maximise the value of your Fuji outfit it would be best to sell the items individually in Buy & Sell, but that is admittedly more complicated than getting a dealer to buy everything in one go.

Half the trouble was, nobody told me I would need a new computer because my old one isn't powerful enough to deal with the Fuji output....so jpeg straight out of camera was as much as I had. The Nikon I have the old NX2 and guess what, it still works! At the time I was ridiculed for not realising the computer would need to be upgraded (simply not an option) - WHY? How the hell was I supposed to know the camera output wouldn't be handled by my computer. I know nothing about any of this stuff and I try to read about it and I might as well be reading a foreign language. It has taken me about 10 years to learn how to do the curves...thats enough, don't confuse me further! Yes, I got suckered by all the hype, both marketing and from everyone in the Fuji group on here, turning out stunning stuff....... but it isn't quite as simple as that. I have thumbed the instruction manual from begining to end and I still can't set the camera up!
Happy ending, at least I know what I am going to do. :)
 
Seems you want to be convinced to get the hefty Nikon, just go for it ... you're the one has to carry that cement block around :ROFLMAO:
