Nikon D40

Hello all. Just a quick query, if you can help. A mate of mine is buying a SLR, he's looking at the D40, I've never used 1 so can't help. Just wondering the best/cheapest/best deal available.

I think you'll find them around for £350-400 with a basic lens. Personally I'd rather have (in fact, it's what I do have...) a D50. Make sure he's aware of the forthcoming D40X - this has major improvements over the D40, but will probably be a bit more expensive (?), although the release may push the price of the D40 down a bit...
