Hey guys

been a while since I've been here...

I have a D3500, and like most I'm really quite happy with what I can produce - camera quality seems to match my ability :p however, the remote control function through the snapbridge app is annoying me. No remote is listed on the Nikon website for the D3500...does anyone know which are compatible? and for that matter anything else, like battery grips? are those for the older D3300 models etc compatible? im sure i remember reading that the bodies were the same size?:wacky: i could be totally wrong though.

thanks in advance

G

What does the plug look like for the remote? The D3200 and D7200 had a square type mini USB sort of connection. A £8 intervalometer off ebay worked perfectly well for me, for. Years. Even after I dropped it in the river.

There is a bit about remote shooting here, not sure if it is any help. https://www.nikonimglib.com/snbr/onlinehelp/en/05_remote_02.html

yeah, thats how i operate it remotely just now, but for bulb exposure its a pain, as soon as you minimise the app it releases the shutter. not a massive issue, but when your trying multiple star trails...

I have the D3300 and I must admit some of the functions are a little limiting. I got hold of an old D90 for more flexibility, and not minding sacrificing a little bit of image quality.

A quick skim through the NIkon manual shows no reference to a physical remote shutter release anywhere, either in the shooting menu or list of accessories. There doesn't appear to be an IR receiver mounted on the body and the Nikon web site doesn't show a cable release either. It looks like SnapBridge is your only option :(
