Nikon D300S firing time

I want to trigger my D300S using the remote cord with the plugs on the end (MC22) driven by some electronics.

Does anyone know if there's a spec for the time between the trigger signal being sent and the start of the exposure time? Clearly it would have to be without any of the variable times getting in the way, for example the "half-pressed" signal would have had to have been sent sometime earlier to allow any focussing and AE to take place, and I guess even better would be to operate it in mirror-up mode so the time to raise the mirror wasn't a factor. However, assuming it's all done and ready to fire, what is the delay?

If there's no spec (and I'm betting there isn't!) does anyone have any idea of the sort of delay I could expect, and if the time is constant or not?

Cheers,
Randy

Search for D300 shutter lag on Nikons Spec page.
Off the top of my head it's something like 47ms

I would think it is the same delay as the shutter button on the camera, so just shutter lag effecting the time. The time the electrical signal will take to reach the camera will be negligible.

Lag! That's the word I've been missing! I've tried all sorts of searches, mostly using the word "speed" as in "release speed", and "shutter release delay" to no avail. "Shutter lag" gives me the answer straight away - 45ms! :bonk:

Thanks for the replies.

just as long as you turn it to manual focus or have it set to fps > focus priority... if it has to auto focus then this takes time first obviously :)

That's probably not far out. I read it was 45ms for the D700. They probably both the same.
