Hello everyone,

I have two official d3 batteries but they're both showing a rating of 4 on the battery menu. They don't hold a full charge and one of them didn't even last half a day during a wedding shoot last month (less than 500 photos). After being charged the night before. I am now in need to replace these but trying to find genuine ones that are in good shape is difficult. I was really hoping ExPro would stock them as I love the batteries I got for my xt1 but they don't stock them anymore (that's what their customer service person said to me when I couldn't find them on their site).

So what are my options? Are there any other reliable third party companies that make these still? Or do I need to just keep my eyes peeled on the second hand market? Any advice or pointers would be greatly welcoming me.

Graham

Duracell do some and they are very good, just pop them in search and you will find them, fast delivery too.

The third party en-el4 battery I've used (VHBW brand) doesn't charge properly in the Nikon charger - although it takes a charge, the charge indicator just keeps flashing. And when it's the camera, the charge remaining indicator is all over the place - showing high, then low, then high again etc. But I still get several hundred shots out of it.

If it's for business use, why not buy a new genuine battery?

I'm on the hunt for genuine ones but it's difficult to trust private sellers or they're from China and that's even harder to trust they're genuine. But I'm also aware they're going to be increasingly harder to find, so figured if there was actually some good quality third party ones, I'd invest in those too.

I was always dubious about 3rd party after an issue with one a couple of years back. When I bought my D3 I ended up paying £100 a battery and they were in limited supply then (a couple of years ago). Just looked on amazon and they have some genuine ones but they’re £120 a pop.

I do have one left over as I was meant to sell it when the D3 webt earlier this year by haven’t gotten round to it

Do you know what? I didn't even think about Amazon. But £120 a pop is a bit out of my budget. Haha.

If you're looking to sell I'm definitely looking to buy if it's still got plenty of life left in it.

Thanks mate, I've actually been reading some reviews on these and it's a mixed bag to be honest.

I have used them in the past and they perform just as good as original batteries
