Some radio triggers introduce a slight delay which means you have to reduce the shutter speed slightly.

It either clears the shutter, or it doesn't. To see exactly where you are with your camera and your particular triggers, shoot a plain white wall and keep increasing the shutter speed until you see a dark line appearing at the bottom. That's a shadow of the shutter curtain closing. Now back the shutter speed down a notch so it's clear, maybe two notches just to take care of any variables like a sluggish battery.

I have a bit of a problem with sync speed on my d100 - the flash seems to fire too late to actually light anything. The same flash (a jessops bog-standard one) works fine with my d60, and my studio lighting kit works fine with the d100 - it's just the combination of flash and d100 that doesn't seem to work.

The d100 isn't set to rear flash (i checked over and over again). Any thoughts?

Cheers

Welcome to TP :)

It not clear to me exactly what is happening with which flash and how you are triggering it. But just as a guess, a lot of these kind of problems are caused by the off-camera gun's slave being triggered by the pre-flash from the camera.

The camera normally fires two flashes for i-TTL metering, they are so close together you can separate them visually. The result is that it fires too early and is all finished and gone before the shutter actually opens.

Is this a possibility?
