If you're interested in Nikon's Creative Lighting System have a look at these three videos (about 10 mins each), they feature a photographer based in Las Vegas and show just how versatile this set up is. It is an area I want to explore a bit more this year.

Trying these out as well Colin - looks like we'll be comparing notes! I used these on the Bond Girl try-out last week - definitely using them on "idiot" mode right now!!!
Thanks for the post - great find.

Thanks for that Colin. Really interesting and well presented. It has gone a long way towards encouraging me to start using flashes.

Great post Hacker  Very informative.

Hmmmm, it plays like an adertorial but it's inspiring stuff. I've had a few ideas, but first will need to buy an SB-800!

Thanks for posting them up. Great videos. Now I just need two more flash guns.

Im eyeing up 2 X SB600 + brollies and stands after watching those videos.:help:

I have access to my father-in-law's SB-600 so it's just the SB-800 I'm short at the moment. Oh, and stands, soft boxes, brollies, reflectors etc

But first the D300, and then the 70-200 AF-S. Hmmm, lighting might have to wait a while!

Oooo nice find Colin, I'll watch these later... These have to be better than the "tutorial" DVD I spent good money on.

Excellent find, just found some time to watch them, so much better than the Oz DVD. It has helped me to make up my mind to buy more speedlights, in fact I might buy more than I planned ;)

 Brilliant.... but how many flashes

Only bad thing I have to say is.... it's not nighkon... it's NIKON!

Damn yanks ;) (no offence to any americans :))

No, your right, its terrible....
Tenner say's they dont say Caynnon, which is what I'm doing, when nattering with my American pals:lol:

These vids just go to prove what I've always know, Nikons flash systems are the complete dogs nutz.

Pete, have a look at the SU-800 wireless commander, I got one for Christmas and it is very easy to use, you can control multiple speedlights without complicated menus and it frees up the SB-800 for what it was meant for.

I'm thinking of getting 2 or 3 SB800's first and then an SU800 later. Even with a couple of SB800's I'll be able to start using CLS with 2 off camera flashes. Should be fun then :D

You owe me some money Hacker. It seems I have gone and bought 2x SB600, 2x 3metre stands, 2x brackets, 2x brollies, 2x diffusers and a 39" reflector. All due to watching these videos. Expect the bill in the post soon. :p

You only need one SB800 to control 3 groups of SB600's, so why buy more than you need?

Even that guy only had one, and he had a stupid amounts of SB600s

SB800's have more power, and come with filters and a diffuser.

Those videos showed the guy using SB800's all the way through. I didn't spot one 600 at all.

hacker i'm intrested in a SU-800 but can't you do this with a sb800??

Yes you can but I wanted to get away from the on camera flash. I find the SB-800 menus a bit convoluted and not the easiest to figure out. The SU-800 is a completely different kettle of fish, I didn't even have to refer to the manual, it takes seconds to change settings on the different guns you might be using.
