I've been happily surviving with an SB800 and an SB26 fired by the on-camera 'master' SB28 but I'm toying with the idea of upgrading to at least have some CLS capability for certain shoots.

Question is, which flash ('600 or an '800) will help me get the most from CLS?

I'm led to believe the SB800 can be a master flash (i.e. on-camera) but the SB600 can't – it can only act as the slave (am I right or have I been given duff info?) - so this would lead me to think an 800 would offer ultimate versatility. The SB800 I already have is a quality piece of kit and I do like them but however, as always, money is a big factor and the SB600 is a lot less than an 800.

By the way, the SB900 is well out of my budget.

What do you guys reckon?

If you already have an SB800 then surely an SB600 as a second flash should be fine even if it won't work as a master flash (I don't know if it will or not).

If you wanted one as a master and one as a slave then just make sure you use them the right way round.

I have an SB800 and a SB600 and I have only ever used them as slaves with the on camera flash as the master which has worked fine for me.

Cool, cheers for clearing that up for me :) Right, on the lookout for a '600...

Robert Davies, nice one - just sold some bits 'n' pieces on ebay that's cover half the cost nicely :) Think Kerso might be getting an oder soon....
