Nikon Cashback Question?

Yes
I just bought a D40x and I'm sorting out the cashback stuff so I don't forget. It says I need to send a copy of the receipt, a filled in form and the two sheet B warranty slips for the camera body and lens.

I've just registered the camera and lens online with Nikon using the serial numbers. Do I need to fill out the warranty slip before I send it off, or shall I just tear out the pages and send them in blank? They have the serials numbers on them and I've registered them online but don't want to get screwed out of £40 on a technicality.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I did the Nikon cashback but to be honest I can't remember - I did it all through the post in January. I phoned them yesterday to see how long it would take and she said they had sent the cheque in the post on Wednesday so should get it soon.

Check on the Nikon website - ther is more information about the cashback deal, and if that doesn't answer your question give them a ring - they were very helpful! good luck

You need to download a form of the Nikon website, print it out and then complete the details in the table. Include the serial number for both the body and the lens in the spaces.
Send this form along with Slip B for the Body and Slip B for the kit lens. Photocopy them so that you have a copy for yourself, and then wait very patiently for your cheque. I sent my form off on 16th Jan, sent them an email last week asking where my cheque was. They replied the next day saying that they would sent it ASAP and I received it this morning.

Thanks all, I won't bother filling out the yellow slips with my name/address then. I've got everything printed, copied etc, but I wasn't sure whether I needed to fill out the yellow warranty slips with my details.

Hi, I have just got my cheque this morning from Nikon. I printed the form from the web site a gave them b copy from both the camera and lens, without any dealer stamp or anything extra filled in. I scanned and printed a copy of my invoice. That was 3 weeks ago.

Thanks Agent006, I'll post my cashback stuff tomorrow and await my cheque ;)

why do nikon go to the trouble of doing this, surely its extra pressure on their admin department,

why dont the just knock them out cheaper?

but i spose its done as a "we will give you something back if you buy from us" ploy, and just wack on a % on the retail to cover the cost of the cash back.

so, we want £400 for said item, we will charge it at £450 and give them £50 cash back, is that right>?

Cant remember exactly what to do but I remember it took me 7 months to get my cashback! What a mess, got some compensation in the end though :) Nikon's customer service is dredful imo

It depends what they're trying to achieve. Most commonly it's to make way for a new model like the D60. If they knocked the price down at retail they have to refund the retailers so it's usually easier to deal with the customer direct, plus they know some people will forget or send in the wrong stuff.

I thought about waiting for the D60, but combined with some discount vouchers and cashback (providing they send it to me), I got a new D40x + kit lens for £310.

Does anyone know if it works with imports. I got mine brand new in box with all paperwork fron hong kong. Can i claim cash back through their website or post.

Thanks

I am sure on the website it states UK goods only, i would goto the web page for the cashback and it will be stated one way or the other.

Just letting everyone know that I received my cashback cheque on Tuesday. I didn't fill in the yellow slips, but obviously filled in the cashback form. Means I got the D40x (plus kit lens), brand new for £310. Bargain!! ;)
