Nikon AF-S Lenses Frying FTZ Adapter

I read a couple of threads on DPR about certain AF-S lenses frying FTZ adapters. One culprit seemed to be the AF-S 28-70mm, which interestingly is not on Nikons list of compatible lenses. The "victims" reported the FTZ completely stopped functioning with any lens after being used with the above lens. The adapters were being sent for repair and research to Nikon who as yet have not commented on whether this was a couple of rogue lenses or whether that particular lens should not be used with an FTZ adapter. Either way I'll avoid the 28-70 f/2.8 on mine.
