nikon 70x200mm filter attachment

I have just been getting a nikon 70x200 lens with 77mm thread . when I try to screw a 77mm hitech adapter onto it it seems that the rubber around the lens, stops the adapter from reaching the thread. does anyone have any experience of this problem.I would be grateful to know if anyone can help. regards colin

My 80-200 is the same with some low profile screw in attachments.

Get on ebay, buy a rubber lens hood for about £5 and throw away the rubber bit - gives you a metal ring which extends the screw thread by about 1" :thumbs:
