Think we should start Nikon 70-200VRII thread/club as there seems to be one for this & that camera :p

Oh congrats by the way

I am missing my version I after flogging it to buy the 85mm F1.4. Looking at the MK II when funds allow, which won't be for a while yet. Glad to know it's so much better.

Enjoy your new purchase Gary, from what I hear its a stonking lens

i love my mk1 on my d700 ok its not as sharp as on the d300 but pleanty sharp enough.
but i just cant help it,:D

The VRII on a D700 - you'll notice the difference it'll be more sharper, it'll be like the VR (mkI) on your D300 but the as on your D700....

 Did I xpain that in easy to understand

will have to go try one me thinks just to see :D
but i love my mk1:D
My old MKI was brilliant on an old D300 i had a couple of years ago but it was terrible on a FF D3, it was sharp in the centre but fell off badly to the corners and vignetting was a slight issue as well.

Now im not saying this is the best lens ever made but for me its a major improvement on a full frame camera, you can clearly see the issue with increased FOV at close distance though, this may or may not be an issue for me in the field but only time will tell.

I like it because it's faster and quieter.
I never had that much of an issue with the VR-I - til it broke, that is.

Is that on a full frame camera?....The reason I ask is that I have version I of this lens on my D300 and love it but I am going FF this year and just wondered if I should factor in a few extra £££ to upgrade to version II.

Thanks

On Full-Frame.
I 'aquired' an almost new suite of Nikon cameras and lenses cheap-ish from a colleague who was going back to Canon. I'd have preferred Canon also as I used Canon A1 and F-1 bodies back in my film days, but the deal was too good to pass up.
Included was a 70-200 VR-I, which I unfortunately damaged beyond economical repair (lots of swearing!!!).
I purchased a new 70-200 VR-II to replace it.

I'm new to Exmouth: my parents live here and I returned to UK after retirement to be nearby and look after them as they slip into advanced decrepitude...

i love my mk1 on my d700, not as sharp as on the d300 but sharp enough, will do some test on it.
