Just purchased the nikon 70-200 :)...Hope its as good as the reviews say it is.

Excellent lens, speed of AF is mind-boggling. Having said that I never felt it was quite as nice to use as the 80-200 AF-S (the rare one), I found the IS quite off-putting so switched it off...so should probably just have stuck with the old lens!
 
I can't wait to test it out in good daylight I have a D3 so will pair it up with that
 
Interesting to know how you get on with that combination - I've got the D3/VR1 and quite tempted to go for the VRII sometime soon.
 
That's the best lens I've ever bought. I've never once regretted it and neither will you. Works wonders on any Nikon body I've attached it to.
 
Don't bother using it stopped down more than about f5.6. It is optimised wide open end - even at f2.8 it is fine.
 
I finally got mine a few months back too, to match up with the D800. Excellent combination, as expected. I've used it for all sorts, street, gigs, school plays [got another one this morning, will be using the 70-200 again] portraits and landscape.

The only time this lens isn't useful is indoors for group shots :)
