Nikon 70-200 VR 2 issue

I’m away on location and just tried my 70-200 VR which now won’t auto focus. Tried it on 2 different bodies but nothing. I haven’t used it for a long time ( 9 months or so) and it was fine when put away. Any ideas on anything I could try. Cheers.

is it doing anything at all when you try to focus, or just sitting being a brick?

Has the focus switch got knocked to manual?

When i half press the shutter button, i get the VR kicking in as normal. Tried different lenses on both bodies and they are fine. Checked the switches on the lens and they are set correctly. I tried moving them and resetting them back again but nothing. The lens will focus manually with no tightness and feels smooth.

Other than cleaning the contacts I can't think of anything that's not been mentioned.

Defo the lens and i cleaned the contacts so possible requires a new focus motor.

If VR is kicking in it does't sound like the contacts. My guess is a new motor as you suggest

Will be going into Glasgow next weekend so will drop it off for repair.
