When using my 70-200, colours seem to lack contrast and are quite dull/flat compared to a 24-70 or prime lenses that I've tested with. Any ideas, folks?

On my D300 the menu originally only did SD-N- Vivid and mono. I added portrait and landscape but not the DX2. can be done with the D700 as well.

Think its self explainatory

Or go into set picture control and on each, ie standard etc, press right paddle and alter settings

You can also set the camera to recognise that lens and it will use the settings you gave for that lens "I think"
Thats in AF fine tune where you can at least set the values, which I presume means all lens settings as well

How do you set the camera to recognise the lens? Cheers!

Just added that but may be for focus only, something of a try and check situation.when in fine tune press the ? button and see what it says. the scale is for back/front focus issues

Thats in the setup menu but i am only gessing other wise use the custom bank menu bit

If it's the older VR1 then it will lack a little bit of contrast and saturation compared to the newer 'N' nanocrystal lenses, especially when pointed in the direction of strong light sources.
