Now solved :)

Hello,
I have had a Nikon 55-200mm lens for a while now and I picked up my D80 today to take some pictures but the lens refuses to move when placed in manual mode? It is fully working in AF mode and the focus moves freely etc :(. I have also removed the lens from the camera and placed in Manual mode but still it is not moving, I have moved the AF/M switch on the D80 to M but it still does not work.

What have I done wrong (like a camera setting that has locked it to AF mode?), or has the lens broken?

Thank you
Jack

My suggestion would have been to try and move the switch on the body and lens to mf, but it seems you've already done that, hope you get it sorted.

Hi thanks for quick reply but I have solved it now! :). It was a very strange (and unnoticeable!) fault with the lens all that I did was click the baseplate around the switch back into place, it was about 2mm off but obviously effects the switch badly hence why it was stuck in AF when placed on M.

Here is the part I am talking about:
