hi, time for another newbie question.

I have been looking around for a 50mm F1.8 lens

now, i have seen some on ebay described as prime lenses and some described as D lenses. ARe these they same, or is there a marked difference. I thought prime just meant that they were fixed length (in this case 50mm)

also, on ebay they seem to be sellign for around £50 - 65 used but the ones described as AF D seem to be available in online shops for £79. is that abotu the right price for them?

thanks.

You can get some nice bargains if you go non-D, especially on some of the teles. E.g. it makes about £100 difference on a mint 180/2.8.

I asked Ronald Vink, the guy who runs that nikon lens database about D vs non-D ages ago and he seemed to think it wasn't important except for flash photography and then not very.
