Hi people. Just wondered if any one out there uses the Nikon 500mm f4 VR 2 with the 1.7 converter. I have been using both the 1.4 and the 1.7 and can not notice much difference. In fact I would say that the 1.7 is sharper which goes against all i've read. Any comments would be appreciated. It is used on a D300s. Thanks. Omllett.
 
I have the Nikon 500mm f4 and found that the 1.4 converter was quicker at aquiring correct focus that the 1.7. In terms of quality I found the 1.4 and 1.7 the same in quality and much better than the 2x. My vote goes to the superb 1.4 converter
 
Yep. I have mostly been shooting static stuff so speed was not a prob. I guess once the birds start moving a bit more and I take some flight shots I will notice the diff. Thanks for your reply.
