Nikon 500 f5.6

A few pics of the new Nikon 500 f5.6. If its as good as the 300 PF then my 600f4 will be going up for sale.Short and light, just needs to be sharp now and it ticks all my boxes. £4000 is expensive but it may come down a bit.

If it's as good as the 300 PF it should be brilliant, though expensive ... would you be happy losing the 100mm and extra light?

300 PF plus 1.4 gives you 420 5.6.
Is a little more reach worth the extra cost?

Yip would happily lose 100mm and a bit of light if i was able to use in more situations with being able to take with me to more places and the bokeh was as good as well. I dont see the price as an issue and i dont use the f4 a great deal anyway except black grouse. I can see this becoming a Nikon favourite.

Yip for me it would be. I try not to use my tc where possible and the 500 f5.6 will take a tc as well in decent light.

I hope Nikon also produce a 600 5.6 as well, if so there will be a 500 F4 for sale. I occasionally use a 1.4tc with my 500 but don't want to do that with a base of f5.6. So personally I think 600mm would be perfect, but may be tempted by the 500.

I think they have patented a 600mm 5.6.

The 500 f5.6 would be fine on my D850 with the ability to crop when needed.
