Hi all,

I'm looking for a bit of info on the above lens.

Is this the version which has very slow AF on newer D-SLR's?

I am shooting with a Nikon D200 and wondered if this prime would be any good or whether it's focus speed is just a bit too slow?

Cheers

It was the slow AF speed of lenses like this intended for professional use that sparked the migration to Canon for professional sports photography.

So guessing this is the 20+ year old one then.

Which versions came before the latest VR model, is it the MKI / MKII af-s then?

Thinking that is the one I really want...

Try looking HERE for a bit about the history of the lens.

I have the afs 2 version chosen for it's weight.
The af issue never came up when I was searching out my buy.

I used with a D200 too, but the lens really shone once a D3 was hooked up.

They are super lenses, one day the camera upgrade will no doubt follow, when it does, you are ready!
