Nikon 300 f/4 AF-S / AF-D comparison

Finally bought the Nikon 300mm f/4 AF-S. After accidentally acquiring the older version (non AF-S or advertised as AF-D) the AF-S is really worth holding out for. Focus is light years faster than the AF-D (which was faster to focus manually) and you don't get deafened by the ridiculously noisy motors in the older lens.

Top buy and definitely a recommended lens. Don't bother with the older version unless you get a crazy bargain on it as second hand AF-S available as folks upgrade. AF-S is super sharp even wide open.

The 300 f4 AF-S is now under £900 on the OSD website - still need to save more though :bang::bang::bang:
