Nikon 2x Teleconverter issue TC-20E2

Hi, Just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar issue with their TC-20E2?

Not dropped it, not knocked it, not stuck it in the bath etc etc and all of a sudden the b*stard won't focus/focus confirm and just bounces backwards and forwards.

Any advice as to what has happened, what I need to do to fix it?

I don’t think it has any moving parts.
Does the attached lens work ok without it ?
Maybe try cleaning the contacts. That’s all I can think of.

It would be useful to know which camera and lens you are using? Good/bad light?
