Hi,

I am thinking of getting the Nikon 20mm f1.8G AF-S, over the Nikon 16-35mm f4. I have a 24-70, but want something a little wider to go with it.

Does anyone have any feedback, either positive or negative on the 20mm?

Cheers!

Very good lens, I replaced my 16-35 with it as a nice light wide option, cracking lens, you can see some shots I've taken with it here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/chrismscotland/sets/72157648238542963/
I was considering selling mine but intend to keep it now as part of a light travel kit. I have mine as the wider alternative to my Tamron 24-70 f2.8 and intend to have it as part of a 20, 28/35, 70-200 travel kit when I don't want to lug the 24-70

There's always the 18-35 if you need versatility and light weight. IQ is none too shabby.

Have u guys got the 18-35 as I though about one of these as don't need 1.8 for landscape. How light is it

I have the 18-35 and it's about as heavy and about the same size as an 85/1.8 I'd say - deffo a helluva lot lighter than the 14-24!

I'm odd in that I actually prefer the feel of the 'plastic' lenses. (Gets coat... :D)

Its something I've changed my tune on over the years and its partly because of the Nikon "G" Primes, they're stunning IQ wise but not as nicely build as the older metal D primes, but if they're lighter and better what do I care if its plastic, its the modern way

I'm sure that in time even the top of the range lenses (and cameras) will have bodies made from some form of plastic or composite material. There are many advantages over metal alloys, not least weight saving.
