Nikon 200mm ooops!

Just came away on holiday with camera equipment in tow. When I get here I put camera bag on the bed and then stupidly knocked it off again. The bag had in it one nikon D7000 (which is fine) one 50mm prime attached (which is fine) and one 200mm zoom, now the zoom was in it's own bag, which was in the padded sectioned camera bag, which was in a ruck sack, which was knocked off a 2ft max bed. The 200mm has not got a mark on it and is only a few months old, but now will not focus and the zoom is very stiff now instead of nice and smooth. Surly these lenses should be tougher than this???
Anyone had anything similar happen with one of these lenses? Or any suggestions /advice greatly received!

Actually we forget that there is a lot of engineering and technology in a lens these days.

When my Nikon F or Nikkormat had their 200mm prime lenses fitted thirty years ago you could drop them in the sea (wash in clean water) and carry on when dry, or drop them from a car roof, which I did, but with pcb's, micro motors and precision engineering I take care.

My teenage son has the 28-300 Nikkor, about £650-700, nice lens, would I drop it 2' in a bag or not, not a chance. Thats why we are 100% no quibble insured.

I assume that you are insured, simple claim.
