Floated this one before but got little response. I would like to buy an 18-105 VR Nikon zoom ( about £200) Anybody any opinions on this lens?:bonk:

I got one in a D90 kit, but I never used it, but I can't comment optically.
There are quite a few on Ebay, a lot of people seem to buy D90's with them, and quickly sell the lens. Not sure if this is a comment on its optical abilities or not!
Firstly, why would you like to buy it - what will it do that your current lens won't. Have you considered the 18-70 DX which is considered to be Nikon bests kit lens?

It's not Nikon's best lens for sure, plastic mount and a bit blurry at 18mm. Bung another £100 to it and get the 18-200 VR, metal mount and less fiddling about changing lenses as it does most everything.
You can then add other lenses (I'm adding macro & primes) at your leisure cos you won't be missing a lot.......

Thanks Guys. I'm getting negative vibes about the 18-105. Dowsn't sound anything special. Will look at the 18-200 VR instead
