Hi
I'm quite tempted by this lens (I use a D600) - it has a useful focal length range for landscapes (urban and rural) - and looks to be very well regarded in terms of optical performance - the distortion I can live with (ie fix in PP) and I don't need anything faster.

Just wondering if there are any third party lenses that I should look at as well - would rather spend a bit less if possible.

Thanks.

I sold my 16-35 and bought a Cosina 19-35mm. The Coisna cost £70 and is 80% as good as the 16-35mm was. Sure its built like a toy, and is a bit noisy but IQ wise its very good, especially for £70.

Yes, the 16-35 f/4 is expensive and heavy and big. But it's also sharp and is great at the wide end. It holds it's value well, and there's a good reason for that.
I had a sigma 17-35 many years ago. Total rubbish if I'm honest. Very soft all round. But then that was the days of film and even poorer techniques.
Even Nikon's own 20-35 is still not cheap, but must be worth a look. Their 17-35 is even more expensive than the 16-35.
What about a 20mm f2.8D. It's fixed, but light and very good.

Thanks - some good suggestions in there for lenses I hadn't come across. The Cosina sounds like an absolute bargain!
