This is the first time i have taken part in this and i hope to last the year. Please be honest as I have learnt a lot already from forum, just nee dto put it into practice now, so all C&C is very much appreciated.

I struggled for this week... have been trying to think outside the box and time got away with me.

Looked up the definition for inspiration and found:

2. Something that meets a need; a convenience.
3. accommodations
a. Room and board; lodgings.
b. A seat, compartment, or room on a public vehicle.

5. Physiology The automatic adjustment in the focal length of the lens of the eye to permit retinal focus of images of objects at varying distances.
6. A financial favor, such as a loan.

Thought it would be different to go with that as an idea as i didnt know that was a meaning accommodation. At least i will have learnt at least 1 thing this week.

In for a penny in for a pound...

Thats a nice tight depth of field, and a great idea using the unknown definition (might rob that one day;)) well done :thumbs:
 
I am a complete beginner so cant really offer much advice. I will say that I will the take on the theme and think it is nice image.

Look forward to your other entries over the year.
 
I am loving some of these 'alternative' takes on the theme. Great idea :)

Lovely DOF!!, for me though maybe the picture could have been a bit more subtley lit?

Not saying I have the answer, but light just seems a tad harsh

Hippo_MC - i have had a look back at the image before i processed it and i think your right thats its a bit harsh. I may have over brightened it. Played with a few lighting ideas as only have on camera flash and what ever i could find in the house. Might have another go processing it when i get a chance.


Trying to get some inspiration for this week now.... going to try and think outside of the box again. :thinking:

Playing catch up already which is not the best of starts to my frist 52 but getting there.

Got some new close up filters so have played with them for the week 2 theme of New.....

Not 100% happy with this pic, think its the space in the bottom left hand corner and i was struggling with the manual focus :bang:. This is the best of the bunch.

C&C welcomed and any tips for manual Focusing would be much apprectated.

Now for this weeks challenge...

can't give you any help with manual focus I'm afraid , not ventured that way yet myself :shrug:


But I do like your "new" shot ,the colors are stunning .See what you mean about the left handside space ,repositon & try again ? Good excuse for the OH to buy you some more flowers:lol:

Playing catch up again on last weeks theme.
Thought i would try a new 'Style' of photography for this theme.... Painting with light.

Have been playing all evening and was happy with this shot... only noticed how grubby the vase looked once i'd started processing it.:bang: mental note to self made.

Please let me know what you think and any tips would be appreciated.

Well done Niki nice selection.:clap: I do quite a lot of flower close ups and I find if you have part of background showing as in your shot it s much better to have background showing in the top right corner. Try it and see. Good luck with the rest of your 52.

So heres week 4. Opening lilly.

Not 100% happy with this one, wanted to leave everything set up so that i could take time delay photos of the lilly opening but couldnt due to lack of space. Struggled a bit with processing all the images so that they looked the same. Looking at it again now the whites seem a bit blown :bang:
Going to give this another go at some point, although not with lillys as turns out they make me sneeze and my eyes go red :(

Any suggestions for next time would be welcome.

Thought i was going to struggle with this one but thanks to some inspiration from my mum here we are with....Hard boiled egg.

Have a busy week ahead so probably wont have time to try and do something more interesting so wanted to try and at least get something in.

Had an idea of how i wanted this shot to look, not sure im quite there with it so if i find time might try again.

C&C welcome for all my photos, i will hopefully be able to have a look through the other 52's and add some comments.

I like the shot but the shadows are a dit distracting... could have done with a bit flash I think... and maybe a slightly smaller apatire for a little more DOF
 
Hiya Niki,

My apologies, I just noticed I have missed some of your weeks, so I will have to do a bit of a catch-up here:

Week 2: Lovely colours, although the image is soft and a bit dark. The background doesn't bother me too much.

Week 3: Hmmm, I'm not so sure about this one. I like the idea, but not sure if the combination quite works. I think it may have to do with the colours, maybe a different colour background would have worked better. Also the light reflection on the glass vase is distracting and then with the light heart it all seems a bit too bright in the wrong places, if you know what I mean.

Week 4: Now I really like this one, very well thought out and a lovely flower too. Here the background works well as it makes the flowers stand out nicely. Well done :clap:

Week 5: A good take on the theme, but agree about the shadow being distracting. With different lighting this could be a brilliant image, and once again the background works well here to emphasise the subject.

You are doing a great job, and I look forward to seeing your next images.

Hi Niki your 'style' pic is really well done - I like it.
The 'open' is nicely done as well - how did you light it to get the flower so well exposed but the background totally black?
Your 'hard' photo is good but I would have liked the lighting to be a bit more even as the shadow line across the lower piece of egg is a bit distracting, and I'd like to see more detail in the interesting egg cup. A nice take on the theme though.
