Nik Software - Analog Efex Pro

Hmmm...I wonder if this what caused the temporary meltdown in my LR earlier this week..?

Anyway, not convinced about this. At least not yet. It's all a bit 'App.'ish. LR to me is about improving the pic a bit, not roughing it up by implication that analogue cameras are all faulty! But I'll defo give it a go, just think I'll get bored of it. The useful bit is the 'Camera Kit' selection which allows you to choose which tools are used.

Hmm. Mine didn't auto update. Typical of Google though if they silently drop an "upgrade" that crashes Photoshop.....they did an upgrade to Chrome the other week that broke their own mapping product.

I wan't to like the filters but I couldn't watch the first video because I was laughing so hard at his pronunciation of "analogue".

Hmm, not something I'd use every day. But I can't honestly say I hate it.

It was quite a nice surprise to find that it had automatically downloaded. I had no issues what so ever. Overall I really like it, its another tool to help me be creative. I wrote a bit more about it on my blog.

Hi, Maybe just me but I do not like this fact that it downloads automatically, means you now have no control on what Google may wish to put into your system,I have no issues with updates for the programs I already have but this seems to be a completely new software or part of a software install of something I would probably not use. I prefer to choose what I want to put into my system so a disable automatic downloads would be a nice option.

If you want to stop the automatic updating you can just go start > run > services.msc and set all the Google update services to disabled.

I did download the trial of nik collection, I think this is quite an interesting addition, but I think the filters are a bit instagrammy. Be interesting to see how it matures. If they added some genuine film emulation I'd buy it. It would be nice to have all those sort of effects in one place.

I think "grown up Instagram" sums it up pretty well.

It has some cool effects. I suspect I'll get tired of seeing them everywhere soon. It also has some nice controls and if you delve it's pretty capable.

For a freebie it's pretty nice.
