Nik Silver Efex - won't start????

I have a trial version of Silver Efex downloaded, but for some reason it won't start in CS5?

According to the instructions, when I open CS5, it should be in the filter menu, but it isn't.
If I then go into the plug-ins folder and double-click on the Silver Efex icon, it does open CS5 only to say "Could not complete your demand because it is not the right kind of document".

Does anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong here?

I have looked in that drop down aswell but no Nik submenu there either?

i thought it only worked properly in the 32 bit version (in the CS5 menu in programs, there will be 2 versions of CS5)

Ah yes,... i had to change my 64 bit to 32bit to get mine to work. good thinking batman!!

It is a bit of a delusion, isn't it the 64-bit thing? You get the option, but nothing works properly anymore

Most of the plugin vendors have provided updates for 64 bit support.

I think that of the bigger vendors it's only Nik software that didn't have this resolved within about a week of CS5 being released, and they'd had plenty of notice that it was coming too.

It's a bit of a bummer but we should really "thank" Microsoft for this as it is their idea that you cannot load 32 bit shared libraries from 64 bit apps. Linux does not have this problem.

Nik still didn't commit to 64 bit which makes it really annoying because it is (SilverEfex that is for me) one of the best PS plugins out there

It's the same issue on OS X, which is a Unix operating system. So it's not Microsofts fault.

Hmm, I am still a bit sceptical - it works fine on Linux so my guess here is that those commercial OSs are just trying to forcefully migrate everything to 64 bit.

For Photoshop it is especially painful since I do need to do a lot of switching between the versions 32bit and 64 bit just because of this.
