Hi, just wondering how others approach sharpening for different print sizes using Nike sharpen 3 pro?

The dos say sharpening for each image size, but that can greatly increase workflow if i am offering 3/4 different sizes?

Fore images where sharpness may not the number one priority, such as events then sharpen one image and resize may work.

The type if image i do is fine art, these can have a lot of creative sharpening to different areas of the image. To do this for each image size is going to take a lot of time.

What are your thoughts on doing creative sharpening on a large 300dpi image, set different sizes using dpi amount, and then using the output sharpening for each image?

cheers

Theres a school of thought that sharpening should be a 2 or 3 step process
1 Capture sharpening to replace loss of sharpening due to the AA filter
2 Creative sharpening to the various parts of the image.
3 Output sharpening, done at the final size and for the correct output (printer/screen/halftone etc) as thiese are different.
I dont use Niks sharpener so I can't help with that but you might find reading real world sharpening by the late Bruce Fraiser and Jeff Schewe helpfull in gaining an insite into sharpening.

Thanks for reply.

Yes i am aware of how sharpening works and the method you out line, Nik sharpen follows this methodology.

What am asking relates to the creative sharpening, having to do creative sharpening at different sizes not only increases the work load, but also means that consistence is lost.

No matter how good you are you never going to be able to exactly replicate the sharpening of different areas across the different sizes.

This why i am asking how others do it?
