Nik Collection issue with Photoshop CC 2017?

Hi,

I use the Nik Collection filters quite a lot, particularly when I'm working on Landscapes. I recently updated to CC 2017 and since then Photoshop just crashes whenever I try to use any of them. I looked on the Goolge forums and it seems I'm not the only one having this problem. The advice there is to either copy the plug-in folder from the old CC 2015 folder to the new CC 2017 folder or install the collection in a new default location inside the 'Common Files' folder. I tried both of these and neither has worked.

Has anyone else had this issue? Are there any solutions? Does this require an update or patch for the Nik Collection?

Thanks.

SJ.

Mine had disappeared in a previous upgrade but as I don't usually use it out of Ps I didn't notice. But copying across the plug-in folder reinstalled it fine (on a Mac)

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

I just tried again and found that it seems to be ColourFX pro that causes the crash. That's a bit annoying as that's the one I use most.

I spoke with Adobe. They said they could resolve the issue. They could not. I then asked them to remove Photoshop CC2017 from my machine and re-install CC2015.5 and now Nik will not work with that either. They insist that Nik is causing the crash and that it is not compatible with Photoshop (even though it's a Photoshop plug in). Prior to the installation of 2017 it was fine and now I can't use it on any version.

It's a third-party plug-in. Adobe cannot guarantee backwards/forwards/sideways compatibility of software written by someone else that they have no control over.

Complain to Google, not Adobe.
